Social Media Project TGJ3M-T4

Communications Technology

Weight: 15% April 22nd 2010

Due Date: This project will be ongoing during the semester.

First mark date is Friday April 30th 2010, have a minimum of 3 blog postings

Directives:

For this project you will activate, post and monitor a Blog, a Twitter account, and a Facebook page all associated to one another. This is to say, your Facebook and Twitter accounts will be named after your blog and will serve to generate interest and readership as well as provide you with a means to connect with other bloggers and professionals relevant to the area of focus you choose for your blog. You may also link your blog to a Youtube account, Flickr account or any other relevant social media site, excluding sites with adult content.

Your blog should focus on one (1) specific subject that is widely discussed in the media for example: a blog about local politics, a blog about sports, a blog about food, a blog about fashion… etc In your posts you should offer your insights into a particular incident or developments related to your subject and provide as counterpoint other opinions you have found regarding the same issue. When you discuss the opinions of others you will clearly cite where you found them and if possible link to the web site where the whole text, or video etc… can be found.

You may include photos, videos, or audio recordings as blog posts, but they should still be accompanied by some contextualizing text.

Each blog posting should be between 250-700 words long. The expectation is that you will post on your blog at least two (2) times a week.

For April 30th you should have all of your accounts set up and post three (3) times on your blog.

At the end of the term you will right a report detailing the outcome of your posts: did you receive feedback, how many readers did you accumulate. Which posts had the best response and which one had the worst, did any other blogs link to your page? You will finish up with a personal response to the experience and share any ideas or opinions you’ve formed throughout.
